A set of 3 crocheted bacteria for use during antenatal education and prep.
This is a set of 3 "friendly" bacteria for use by birthworkers (doulas, midwives, antenatal teachers) during discussions and demonstrations around the microbiome including birthplace, birth mode and infant feeding.
Three individual bacteria have been carefully chosen from our stockpile around a particular colour theme to make this set.
About the creation process
All items in the shop have been handmade by me. Crochet can only be done by hand and each of these bacteria takes between 30 and 90 minutes to make from the first stitch to sewing the eyes on.
The bacteria are crocheted using 100% wool or wool blend yarn scraps. The yarns are often hand dyed ones that have been bought from independent dyers based in the UK, but some are mass dyed ones. Each is stuffed firmly with CE tested polyfill and finished with button eyes chosen to match the yarn colours.
The bacteria are intended as educational props and not as toys, so they are not CE tested. They may be surface washed with a damp cloth or handwashed using wool detergent in cool water.
